PRACTICE POLITE WORDS

Practice. Practice . Practice. Learning polite words starts early. Two-year-olds can learn to say “please” and “thank you.” Even though they don’t yet understand the social graciousness of these words, the toddler concludes that “please” is how you get what you want and “thank you” is how you end an interaction.

Modeling is huge.  Even before the child grasps the meaning of these words he/she learns they are important because grown-ups use them a lot. Young children can learn the foundation of manners and polite words  early.

Begin the lesson by picking a book from our MISFIT MANNERS Bookshelf. Click each book and decide which book you are interested in reading. You can get these books at your local or school library or purchase online. Many of these books are also read by the authors on YouTube. The book becomes a great conversation starter with children on why words and manners matter.

This is a great video that shows the power of using polite words.
